I went through many different options, but all that I changed was the grip pattern. I chose a nice plain wood pattern.

It just looks . . .right as standard I guess.

You know what would make it even better (but take a lot of work)? Add a list of manufacturer's parts and their retail price. That way some one looking to build/customize a 1911 can see what it'll look like and get a ballpark on the $$.
