Excerpt from NJ paper:

Assembly law and public safety committee approved the bill to ban realistic pellet guns 4-2. (4 democrats to 2 republicans)

The bill makes it a crime, punishable by 18 months in prison to own a pellet gun "if an ordinary reasonable person could mistake it for a firearm." Sellers will receive 5 year prison terms.

Disregarding objections by target-shooters who said there hobby would be destroyed, and Assembly committee approved a bill outlawing pellet guns that look like real firearms.

It is now in the hands of the NJ Assembly to vote and put it into law.

Let's hope this doesn't happen. It still has to be approved by the assembly.
