which should i get?

Should I go with the mossberg 835 or an 870 remington. Mostly just clays one in a while and snakes around the house.

frankly I dont think it will make much difference which of these you buy. Both are good guns, reliable, and efficient. I would look for the best price.

Well the mossberg is a bit cheaper but seems like alot of people really like the 870

Well - since you asked !

Both will do, you'll probably like the 870 better however. No need for that 3&1/2 inch chamber unless you waterfowl hunt , and extra barrels, etc. are more plentyful for the 870 . Actualy the Mossberg 500 may be better suited than the 835 if going with Mossberg .

Whatever fits you best is as important as anything with a shotgun. Some modifications can be done to either to tune it for your form.

I appreciate the advice, i don't really have a preference for mossberg or anything but i am on a very low budget and this one was only 218.00.

ok just out of curiosity i saw a mossberg 500 Bantam, i dont know what that last word means it says it has a 24 in barrel, would that be ok for dove and quail also?

The Bantam (which means essentially smaller) is designed for smaller shooters and those still growing. The length of pull is about 12" on that model while for full size shotguns it is around 14 to 14.5". When/if the shooter grows, they simply put on a full size stock.

If there is an Academy (http://www.academy.com) store near you, they are selling Maverick 88's for $138 and Remington 870's for $198. Another good choice (as someone has already mentioned) is a Mossberg 500.

well i went and got it today. I looked at several and i decided that i liked the mossberg more, so i got the plain 500a. I cleand and lubed it, then shot a box of shells through it. WONDERFUL!!!!!!!
