What are decent front night sights to replace my little brass bead? I looked at some online but don't know what is OK as far as quality. Also, what threading do I need?

A tritium bead replacement will cost about thirty bucks. Threading is 6X48 IIRC. Meprolight makes a good one, see http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/85000-4514-1127.html for a picture. I have a couple of these on different 870s, they work well IMHO.
If you don't want to drill and tap, the folks at XS Sights make one that epoxies over the existing bead. That might be a better solution for some people. See http://www.xssights.com/store/shotgun.html . More expensive perhaps, but if it costs you $20-30 to get the gunsmithing done, it might be worth it. Most smiths I know of don't charge that much to D&T a hole tho...

I put this one on my 18.25" 870 riot gun. Like it!
