How did this happen?

I have to admit, I don't do alot of rimfire shooting. But during my recent move I took this picture of what I found lurking in the back of the safe. All except for the Mod15 were impulse buys. I had actually forgotten about one of the mod60's. And these are just the ones that survived dozens of trades/sales/gifts of rimfire rifles over the years. So how many do you have?

dagnabbit...you made me get up and go look.

I found a Walther Sportmodell V single shot, a Springfield single shot of unknown model and provenance that I found in the trunk of a car I bought years and years ago, my precious Browning Auto takedown, and the Ruger 77-22 that I bought for the oldest when he turned 14. BTW, the Springfield bears a sneaky resemblance to a Mosin-Nagant action in 1/3 scale. Same knobby safety.

The last Marlin model 60 I had I traded straight across to my brother for a set of golf clubs that I've never used but still got the better end of the deal.

If we're throwing in handheld models, there's a pair of Colt Lord .22 short derringers that were somewhat scorched in a house fire and my wife's S&W .22/32 kit gun that was her dad's. I've got a P22 on the short list now because my wife saw one over the weekend. I just love taking her to gun shows.

Regards,
Rabbit.

A pair of Marlin 60s,
Winchester pump action (which is my favorite rifle to shoot),
S&W wheelgun
and a High Standard.

Most of those are my father's but I'm the only one who ever shoots them so I've declared them mine. Man I love that High Standard.

I have just one lonely marlin 60 stainless. She came with a really cheesy scope that is so bad the screws won't turn. :fire: I will have to see what wally-world has in stock, take her out and sight her in.

Right now only one, an old model 25 Glenfeild ( I believe Glenfeild was a house brand gun made for Kmart by Marlin)? Okie, is that a model 25 on the far left? Looks like the one I have.

Hrmm... Well, I have the Marlin 882SSV in 22 Magnum, a Savage MKII LV and the Winchester Boy Scout Rifle which is unfired. Really, the Marlin is the only one I ever shoot. A nice 22LR is on my agenda as is a nice air rifle.

Funny how your priorities change when you move into a house that allows you to shoot anytime you like. ;)

Hmmmm......gotta go look, back in a minute

Marlin 99 is the only 22LR I have right now. Gave oldest son my OLD S&W Kit Gun. Briefly had a Ruger .22 MK 1, I think, traded for a Colt SAA in .22, traded for a M-59 S&W, traded for a........

Looking at both the 10/22 and Marlin 60, just haven't decided which one to fill a blank space in the cabinet. And I need to fill some space on the handgun shelf with something like a Ruger 22/45.....

The one on the far left is my Glenfield mod 15. Think of a mod 25 without a magazine. It was my first rifle, given to me for either my 12 or 13 b'day, no one can seem to remember. I don't know how many rounds I've put thru it, but it wasn't unusual for me to take it and a brick of shells to the pond and not come back until I was out of ammo. No turtle problem in our pond I can assure you. Right now it has become one of my rebuild projects. I went too far when I lightened the trigger (my first time to stone a trigger) so I just ordered some parts yesterday to fix it. It's always been able to shoot circles around any other .22 I've come in contact with, so it will be interesting to see how it turns out.

I thinned the herd out a year ago and am now left with only one, a Cooper Arms Model 36.

Sent to new homes were a BSA Model 12, a BRNO 2E (same as the CZ452), a Ruger 10-22, Springfield 87A and a Browning Buckmark rifle.

In the safe;
Ruger 10/22 (actually my sons)
Western Field (Mossberg, my favorite)
Rem. nylon 66 Apachie
Mossberg model 42Mb
High Standard Double Nine
Ruger 22/45
Rimfires always go to the range with me. After the serious stuff is done plinking empty 12ga hulls is relaxing.

Let's see..
Rifles
Ruger 10/22
Ruger 77/22
Henry Lever action
Old single shot
Glenfield (I think) 60

Hand guns
S&W 422 (first gun I ever shot)
Taurus 94

I love rimfires. They scare the neighbors less, they are usually cheaper to buy, and they are a lot cheaper to shoot.

WOW, there is a catagory of guns that Tamara doesn't have a sample from:what:

I have three right now:
no handguns (but I'm probably going to buy a .22lr snub as a snub "trainer" soon)

rifles:
-Marlin model 60. My first gun. Very reliable w/ good ammo (CCI Mini-mags or Stingers), not very reliable w/ most cheap bricks. Very accurate. This thing is fun.
-Remington 581. Very accurate, 100% reliable but not very fun to shoot.
-Ruger 10/22. It is a good gun but it has pretty much been a disappointment. Decent reliability but not what I hoped for, fairly accurate. Not nearly as fun as the Marlin.

I may soon either sell the Ruger or I may give it to a friend who has found himself gunless (he wants my Colt Police Positive Special but he isn't a good enough friend for that expensive a gift). The Remington, being that rare breed, a 100% reliable rimfire is staying as is the Marlin (I really do like that gun). I may pick up a CZ bolt rifle in .22lr and/or .22mag, I am still thinking about a Remington 597 and a Marlin 60 in stainless and a Marlin in .22mag are almost a given to join the original Marlin 60 I bought.

I've been known to give .22 rifles to people who were on the fence about guns and had never owned one, but somehow I don't think you qualify.:neener:

No .22s, Tam? You're depraved on account of you're deprived!*

Lessee: An ancient Schutzen, 30" octagon barrel, falling block single shot. A 10/22. And a Walther Model 2 semi-auto. There're a couple of Colts around; an early Woodsman and a Huntsman.

BossLady has a Winchester 63 and a couple of "generic" .22 rifles, and a late-model Match Target Woodsman.

I've got a 6.5" Old Model Single Six and a Bearcat and a 2" Model 34, just no long .22's.

Before I read this thread, I hadn't given it any thought, and now I feel the sudden urge to spend money. Thanks guys, y'all are real pals... ;)

Before I read this thread, I hadn't given it any thought, and now I feel the sudden urge to spend money. Thanks guys, y'all are real pals... Hey Tamara, at least you can get a decent .22lr rifle for pretty cheap. The Marlin 60 is quite a bargain at $100-120, the Ruger 10/22 is about $150 (I don't like it that much but they are popular), the Remington 597 pretty much cuts the difference. A CZ bolt rifle seems to be pretty popular in .22lr and I don't think they cost much. A Henry lever rifle is just under $200. And of course there are the legions of Savage and other Marlin bolts and semis for $90-140 typically. Hmm, now that I think about it, maybe I need another .22lr long-gun :) .

This is one catagory of guns that you can really load up on without breaking the bank.

Are you sure it's not just buried under the rest of your guns? :D

As for my rimfires:

Ruger 10/22
Browning Micro Buckmark
Ruger Old Model Single Six
Smith & Wesson Model 18

Actually, the last .22 long gun I really seized up over was a mannlicher-stocked CZ. I seem to recall it was three-and-change.

Fortunately my downstairs neighbour has an Anschutz, a 10/22, and a NoNameCo tube-fed bolt gun.

He keeps a tin can tied to a tree branch across the street, I keep him supplied with Colibris and CB's, and we both get to plink off the front porch when the urge strikes.

Gawd I love it here in the South! :D
