So I know artillery can fire shells tens of kilometers. Has anyone worked out their accuracy to MOA terms?

A good rifle shoots 1 MOA, what does a good Howitzer shoot?

Well, I'm not sure how to do the math on this one, but during the war between South Africa and the Angolan/Cuban forces in southern Angola in 1987/88, we were calling in corrections of 25 meters at a range of 20,000 meters, and the gunners were able to do this. Converting this to US measurements, and rounding to one decimal place, it equates to the gunners being able to make corrections of 27.1 yards at a range of 21,666.7 yards. Would anyone like to calculate how this equates to MOA accuracy? To be able to correct your shots by 1 inch at 100 yards (i.e. one-minute corrections) would seem to imply that that correction would equate to 216.7 inches (or just over 6 yards) at a range of 21,666.7 yards: so the artillery "correction standard" would seem to be just over 4 MOA. However, I've no idea whether I'm mathematically on target here... can anyone help?

The 155mm Long Tom of World War II supposedly could drop 5 shells into a 30 x 30 foot box at 10 miles.

A number of articles I've read said it was by far the most accurate US artillery piece of the war.

Preacherman, how big of footprint did that artillery have?

From what I understand the M1 Abrams with either 105mm or 120mm are extremly accurate with stabilized shooting platform, laser rangefinder, etc. I have heard rumors about M1 tanks using rifle barrel insert (designed for training with regular 7.62 ammo) being used in counter sniper role in peace keeping missions.

Actually they are in the market for a large caliber projectile throwing device :)

I mean not that any of the crazies in my co-op would try, but can you imagine the gratification of hitting the campanile.
I went to mapquest, it looks like the campanile is ~600 yds. away. Eminently doable w/ one of these:
