I'm thinking about getting a Marlin model 60, but I wanted to ask if anyone's had any experience in using bulk ammo, such as CCI Blazer or Remington Thunderbolts with it. As I found out with my last .22, I know that some semi-autos can be picky with their ammo. Thanks in advance!

I picked up a brick of Remington Thunderbolts at Wally-World at the same time I got my Marlin 60SS.

I have no complaints about either the ammo or the gun

The Remingtons were about $9.00 a box I believe.

A damn sight cheaper than 20 Cor-Bons for my P-32 "mouse gun"

I use the Remingtons. In one of my Marlin 60s, I get a misfeed once a tube full. The other one shoots them with no problem. I don't know what the problem is but always seem to forget about it till the next time I shoot it. I'm pretty sure it's the rifle and not the ammo though.

My model 60 likes the Federal rounds in the bulk box from Walmart. I tryed some bulk Winchester rounds, but I think the hollow point profile caused the bullets to miss-feed. I have run so many rounds through my gun that the ejector has been beat up and now causes failure to eject some times.

My 60 like Federal Lightenings too.

Although I found it reliably shoots Winchester Dynapoint, Xpert and Remmy Golden Bullets too if I keep it clean and dry.

The truth is I have yet to find a brand that caused problems in my old Model 60.

I finally settled on the Blazers because they seem to leave less powder residue and cleaning it up is a real mess after a thousand rounds or so.

I've run a few thousand rounds of CCI Blazer through my 60 without any real problems.

As the others have attested, bulk ammo works well in a 60. I've used the Fed 550 and Winchester Dynapoints with good success. I've slso shot quite a few Win Xperts thourgh my 60, but they are a lot dirtier, lead wise, than the coated ones so I have to clean after about 100 rounds or the rifle starts FTE and FTF. For that reason I would stick to the bulk bullets that are metal (copper, brass) coated.

for mine it was always the cheaper the better. never had fire problems, only a couple case got crushed when being ejected.

cleaning after 100 rounds, man i have shot this gun for over 10 years and have never ever cleaned it. might be scarry

i even burned up about a 1000 rounds one day, the local farmer still brings that up when i see him. :D

My ancient Glenfield (Marlin) 60 will eat any 22LR cartridge out there, and has done so.... many times.

It particularly likes CCI mini-mags. Extremely accurate with those...

I had some fail to feed issues a few years back, and I ended up replacing the recoil spring and doing a detail strip clean of it. Shoots now, just like it did when it was new...

Haven't had any problem with any of the ammo I have tried.
Federal, CCI, or Rem and some others.
