I'm shooting .38 specials and .357 and using Unique powder. For target loads I'm down around 3-4 grains with 148g SWC and after a few hours at the range my nice shiny SS Taurus Tracker looks ike it's been recovered from a house fire! Can anyone recommend a cleaner burning powder than Unique? The 38 and 357 are mostly target loads but I have upped the charge to 9.6g for 125 JHP when I want some oomph in the 357, which suprisingly does seem to burn cleaner at the higher loads.

I like Vihtavouri powder.

I hear that Hodgdon Titegroup is pretty clean.

Unique is very dirty in light target loads, at least in my experience.

Bullseye is much cleaner, especially in very light loads, but there is always going to be some soot and some smoke from the bullet lube.
