I have a Ruger .40 cal. that has P94 stamped on the gun itself but has KP944 on the box it came in. Is the difference in the #s meaningful? I bought this gun used from a guy I work with several years ago and have loved it, but I never had noticed this distinction.

Also, does anyone know if Ruger makes a high capacity magazine for this gun?
I could not find one on the Ruger website or at midwayusa. One gunstore told me they make one that only holds 11 rounds and another store told me they made one that holds 15 and ordered one for me but its been 3 weeks and it hasn't come in yet. I'm beginning to think I'm waiting for something that doesn't exist. Thanks for any help.

The P94 is a 9mm, the P944 is .40 caliber. A P94 or P944 is a blued slide while the KP94 and KP944 are stainless slides.

All slides are marked P94.

Yes there were 11 round mags for 40 caliber. the 15 round confusions probably stems from the P94/9mm, P944/40 labels. I think these mags date from the original Ruger 40 caliber P91.

Thanks WW, That just seems like a confusing way to label guns to me. But the older I get, the more confused I get so I guess it should be expected. I'll check with my gunstore about the order he made and may order from the link you gave. Thanks again.

I was wondering why I could fit 11 rounds in a couple of my 40 cal mags. I thought it was just cheap springs on an aftermarket mag.:scrutiny:
