passing along a compliment

this afternoon, i got my paperwork back on some new toys (still 90 days for transfers despite rumors they're quicker after the move), so i went to the gunstore wearing oleg's "number of school shootings prior to 1934: zero" long-sleeved t-shirt. I got a request for similar shirts from the proprietor.

then, as i was running some errands on the way home, i didn't want to leave them in the car, so i went into the local grocery store carrying a sub machine gun with a giant can bagged under my arm (probably looked like a man-purse :) )

i was standing at one register, and a cute cashier at the register behind me grabbed my waist (right where i normally ccw) and turned me so she could read oleg's image, printed on the back. then she carried on a while about how cool it was. I was wondering how she'd feel had she any idea what was in the bag. (i'm guessing about like i felt)

I sat in officemax for a while too. lots of customers, including two LEOs passed, and none noticed my evil black bag.

anyway, i got a lot of mileage this summer out of the first 4 shirts. I ordered 4 more shirts today; 3 as gifts and one for me. i took some pictures of the first 4 a couple months back, but can't remember if I ever posted them.

thanks oleg, it's all good

btw, oleg, you should make a "stamp collecting" shirt

There are no laws against carrying around a "cased" gun of any sort, AFAIK.

I've got a black bag that I use as a range bag, that looks like a "man purse." I went into a Wally World once on the way home from the range, and also, not wanting to leave my guns in the car, put them all in the bag, slung it over my shoulder and started in.

A man and his wife stopped my wife and I and started talking about something or other, I forget what, but he kept looking at me, and finally asked "Do you always carry a purse? What do you have in that thing?"

I answered, "Four handguns and a few hundred rounds of ammo." He sort of looked at his feet, and replied "Yea. I guess it's really none of my business is it?"

Tell 'em the truth. They won't believe you anyway.

I am about to start making image just for tshirts -- much more contrasty, bold graphics with large type to make them readable at a distance. First examples should become available by late September.

Who's gonna get curious? If he's not breaking the law (depends on location), screw 'em!

Oleg: keep us posted on the shirts!

What is the site address for your shirts and are they available in Oz?

good news, oleg.

btw, the ones that look the best on t-shirts tend to be the ones with light backgrounds that are kind of soft colors. e.g. the "cars have mufflers so should rifles" and the aforementioned "number of school shootings before 1934: zero" images look great on white t-shirts.

while i like the msg on the ghandi gun nut t-shirt... the colors are ok, and wearing ok, but you've got to stop and concentrate to read it

edit, vairo, click the links in oleg's sig

That depends on where you are, and whether or not you have a permit.

Where I live, it's not legal w/o a permit, it is legal with a permit. I know of other states where it is definitely not legal.

My range bag is a tool bag with the Craftsman logo nice and bright on the outside. What do I have in it? Tools, silly!

Mine is a black and blue Eddie Bauer diaper bag, but looks about like any other range bag. Anyone asks what's it it, I can say "stinkys" and they usually will lose interest.

Phenom, do you just live your life constantly worried that people are going to find out you like guns? You were one of the guys scared about what the antis would say in the NFA for home defense thread.

The HORROR!

Hey Oleg,

I have quite a lot of experience designing t-shirts, I've done it for years for rock bands. If you ever need to bounce ideas off anyone, I'm your man.
