mauser question

hi. noobie here.

i have a question on mauser rifles, model 98. the question regards the lock down screws on the triggerguard guard screws.

one was stuck and to remove it i had to drill it out. i nicked the internal threads and now i need to chase the threads.

what size tap do i need to do this? also where do i purchase one?

Gunparts has the screws. Buy a set and measure the threads. Likely metric. S'ok. Metric taps can be had in any machinist supply shop. http://www.e-gunparts.com/productschem.asp?chrMasterModel=1780z98

Actually, the threads on a Mauser are not metric. They are English, but likely not "standard" threads. Call the Brownells Tech reps. Those guys usually know the answer to questions like that, and Brownells probably has the tap you need.
