I have an older BTA 90 Tanarmi 9mm that the slide has broken. The safety is located on the slide not the frame. The firing pin plate has damaged the slots in the slide. A gunsmith has looked at the damage and it cannot be reworked. The failure is interesting because the pistol has not had a large number of rounds fired (under 1000).

EAA Corp is the current US dist but the newer models have the safety on the frame. They do not have a replacement slide for this older model and refuse to support it.

Any ideas where a slide can be obtained? I have been searching the net and Houston area without success.

Can the newer slide design be converted to accept the safety?

What the heck is BTA 90? Is it a CZ clone?

The BTA90 is a Tanarmi compact 9mm. They were distributed by Excam Inc in the US. EAA sells a similar version called the Witness but the safety is on the frame. The movement of the safety from the slide to frame was an "improvement" made to the pistol. CZ also has a very similiar model to the EAA Witness. This pistol is an older version of either.
