I am very interested in the Maxpedition Fatboy. Supposedly it has a great place to carry a concealed pistol. Does anyone know the dimensions of that pocket?

I own two of them and use them frequently. On occasion I have used my Fatboy to hold a firearm or two :D .
On a personal note, I no longer purchase Maxpedition products due to attempts by the owner and friends attempted to ruin the reputation and business of a associate of mine in the knife industry. Don't get me wrong, Maxpedition makes quality products but I just refuse to spend dime on companies which take an unethical approach to doing business.

Not the best of places to carry a handgun but they would work. Might look at the larger version, though. The pictures of a Fatboy make it look big but it's really not.
Maxpedition products are really good. I use their MPB every day and have taken it all over the country and overseas without the faintest sign of anything going wrong with it. Very robust. I'll end up with more of their products as time goes on.

Being a Max dealer, I've had both the regular Fat Boy and the Jumbo to experiment with.
While the Jumbo is much more suited to carry a large frame auto, I still like the regular Fat Boy for carrying my mid frame Glocks (19 & 23).
I use the rear mesh pocket of the main cargo area and put an extra mag and then the pistol, side by side. I then put the rain flap over the pistol butt, so even if you go into the main compartment no one will see the pistol. Yet it's still acessible with a curl of the finger.

I bought the Fatboy. It is perfect. I was worried that it might be too large, however as stated by Harold Mayo, it is smaller than the web site picture depicts. Perfect for a few first aid items, small knife, small flashlight, a couple energy bars and a short (500ml) bottle of water and that is about it. Well, of course, there is also room for our 9mm Kahr T9 and a spare mag. We also purchased the simple velcro "holster" that sticks to the inside of the pocket. It would not hold the gun in the pocket if the zipper was open and you turned the pack upside down, but it does keep the gun oriented in the proper direction and also covers the trigger guard area.
Thanks everyone for the help.
