Well, I had great fun today shooting my brand new Walker Colt. It is indeed a very powerful gun. Got it home and took the grips off so I could give the rest a good bath in the sink.

Problem is: Now I can't get the damn thing back together. I am having trouble getting the brass trigger frame/back strap with wood grips/and main spring back on the gun. It seems like the whole thing must be held under spring pressure while six screws are simultaneously tightened down.

Can anyone tell me how to get the main spring back on my gun??? I'm really stuck here :banghead:

When I first had my Walker, I used a small pair of visegrips (and a strip of leather for metal protection) to decompress the mainspring. Then I bought a mainspring vise from Track of the Wolf for under $20. Also, if you have a Walker nipple wrench, with the big loop in it - that loop fits over the mainspring at full cock (grips removed, of course) and keeps it compressed while you take down the gun. But be very careful - that mainspring is pretty powerful and will snap at ya like a tiger.

I just wear leather gloves and bend it quickly out the side. Its worked fine for over a year now with no problems.
