What do you carry?

This is not for an answer but insight. You are betting your life on your ability to defend yourself and family and friends. Have you put a few thousand rounds through your gun? Can you clear a jam without looking at a manual. Find a place that you can can fire as fast as you can pull the trigger just so you can get the feel of what you carry. Get out and practice and tell me what you've learned.

Yes and yes.

Also, I carry a Kimber Pro Carry .45 ACP most of the time. Outdoors in the bush its a Glock 20.

Yes to all. Colt LW Commander, 45cal, or a Astra A-75 in 9mm.

Yes, even with my Army pistola that I don't much care for. Except the 1000rds part, I've only put about 250 through it...no control over that. It goes bang.

My personal carry type pistols got right around 1000 each through them, no jams with any factory or my reloads. Clearing malfunctions left hand only is a PITA, but a revealing exercise.:)

edit: Oh, what I learned; the silly slide mounted safety on the M9 tends to get pushed back on safe during vigorous Tap-rack-assess drills cause it goes in the wrong direction. Not an endearing feature on a combat gun IMHO. Had to modify my technique so I let the slide go like a hot potato...could short stroke it that way if my hand goes to early. I didn't judge the gun until I handled it for awhile. Thumbs down...wish I had the option of a "G" model (decock only).

I've not put several thousand rounds thru any of my carry guns, but I
have fired them enough to satisfy my mind that they are functional. My
West German .45 caliber SIG-SAUER P220A probably has seen the most
use; and I have NEVER experienced a problem with it. I'm still breaking
in the Les Baer Thunder Ranch 1911, and the Kimber Stainless Ultra
Carry II.

FWIW, yes I know how too clear a jam without consulting the manual
of arms. I also practice with my carry revolver's, as well~! :D

Most often, either a rebuilt '43 USGI Colt or an older Springfield mil-spec. Sometimes a new, upgraded Springfield GI Mil-Spec...or an older pre-Series 80
Combat Commander. Once in a while, I'll carry a bone-stock 1919 USGI Colt...but not very often. Collectible, y'know...

Clear a jam... :scrutiny: I suppose I could if I'd ever have one to practice with.

My preferred carry is a Ruger GP100 4" in .357. Put more rounds through it than I can count. Simple and reliable--kind of like me!
