With the grand opening of Sportsman's Warehouse in Southern N.M. this past week, the one pistol that grabbed by attention was this CZ compact...It appeared to be all-steel constuction, heavy at first glance, but I must admit I liked the feel ergonimically speaking...It had a 14 rd mag.
The price tag out-the-door is $485 in this particular store...Is that a good price? To be honest, I read alot of the CZ reviews that are mostly glowing, but the price & the weight of the pistol are my only 2 concerns, the latter due to CCW.

Did the slide say "Compact," or "P-01?" Light rail, or no?
Compact has a steel frame, the P-01 with the light rail has an aluminum frame.
$485 is okay, I guess. Academy has them for cheaper.
It had better have more than one magazine, if not, you're getting ripped off.

Hope this helps,

Thanks for the reply...Didn't know there were a Compact & a P-01...I'm sure it was a P-01, but since I won't be using the rail/light; I'll ask to see the Compact model, if they have one...
BTW, not familiar with Academy in this locale...

$485 is a little on the high side. If you don't have a use for the light rail, check into the PCR. It has an aluminum frame unlike the steel frame of the Compact. Also, the PCR has the decocker like the P-01 whereas the Compact has a safety and can be carrired C&L, but must be decocked manually.

$400.00-$450.00 is the going price. I paid $400.00 for mine, wouldn't take $800.00 for it.

Fantastic pistol, but their asking is a bit high, see if they'll come down to $450 or lower. If not, look around, and see who will order one for you. Sportsman's Warehouse down here wouldn't order a PCR for me, when they said they carry CZ, (one at a time!), so I just bought one from CZ-USA, had it shipped to SW, paid my $25 recieve fees, left without paying thier heavy markup. I can't say how much I saved, but it was worth the hassle.
I love that store, buy lots of stuff, but the markup on guns can be a bit stiff.

Thanks for all the good advice. I've purchased one other pistol using someone's FFL, most of the fees around here are $15 to $20. But when added to shipping charges, wasn't too happy with very minute savings vs. the waiting time.
Armoredman's suggestion of ordering direct & using SW's FFL sounds like a good option & will check out their FFL fee vs. maybe waiting for the next Gun Show in the area.
Appreciate the replies & the consensus seems to be they are a "bit-high" on price...
P.S. I've tried to get images of the PCR off Google & it keeps showing CZ 75D compact..Is this the same one?

Just a point of information, You said you did not want the slide rail. Then get the PCR model!!! It is the slightly earlier model of the P01. It has an alloy frame and it is excellent. It sells for about $425.00 new.

I have to agree, if you don't need/want the light rail, get the PCR:D

You had mentioned that the primary purpose of this was for concealed carry. That being the case get the PCR, you'll be very happy with it.
