fellas... my wife has grown tired of lugging the 686 around, and wants to switch. she's narrowed the field down to 2... glock 23 and h&k pro-something or other.

anyway, her preference is for cross-draw carry. can somebody reccomend a holster or 3 that will work for owb cross-draw carry for women? failing a good for-women cross-draw, what holster do other women seem to like for concealment? she's not one to wear a belt, so maybe something w/ a paddle option?

I believe Kramer makes a holster specifically for women. . Perhaps others can help you more.

I would check Galco, Tucker Gunleather, El Paso Saddlery.

Try the Glocktalk womens forum. The girls there may be better able to help you.

thanks fellas!
never heard of sam andrews before so i appreciate the heads-up. its looking like i'll probably end up w/ the cross draw from sam andrews and one of the women's holsters from kramer. i have a drawer full of holsters for me - my wife might as well have a drawer full, too.

she's decided on the glock. she really likes the feel of the gun, especially the weight and balance. i was a bit surprised by that actually. the sig 239 deserves an honorable mention, as does the h&k.

anyway, thanks for the info on the holsters.

I think you will be very pleased with Sam's crossdraw. it gets rave reviews. Do a search on either "Andrews" or "crossdraw" and you will be surprised at the favorable posts about him and his work. He is a true craftsman/artist and a super nice guy as well.

For high quality cross draw rigs(some designed for female use, ;) ) I'd check these sources;

Galco www.usgalco.com Mitch Rosen, www.mitchrosen.com Milt Sparks, www.miltsparks.com and Kramer Gun Leather.

You may need to wait for some of the custom shops but you will get a top quality concealment holster for your weapon.

All the best;
RS

Galco has an interesting holster that can be worn strong side or cross draw called the Pheonix IIRC. Though it requires a belt and I am not sure a woman could wear it comfortably strong side.

Mitch Rosen (http://www.mitchrosen.com) makes a womans holster called the Nancy Special (NSP) of which my wife has two and loves them, prefers them to any other method of carry.

Some "womens" holsters are just standard duty holsters with a wedge in them to cant the butt of the gun away from the ribs. These may work in uniform but are pretty difficult to conceal.

I'd strongly recommend a belt and a NSP. Mitch's belts can be made with tapered ends and look like a dress belt. They are cut contoured so there is no break in.
