It appears that one of my personal icons, G. David Tubb, wound up with a staph infection in one of his knees recently.
An email from him on August 7th to a member of another competition site I visit reveals this:
Knee has calmed down (shrunk in size some)
Surgery is scheduled for the 14th
Knee will be replaced
Hope he came through ok and will recover quickly, so he can continue raking in all those trophies! :(

I read that he did not make it to Perry, "complications of surgery." Not stated whether that was from the original or from the knee replacement after the infection wiped out the joint.

I had a systemic staph infection while in basic. Lesions are extremely painful. I don't know this man but I hope he recovers quickly.

Staph infections are gnarly stuff...best wishes and a quick recovery for Mr. Tubb.

I hope the best for David. I fought one for nearly 8 months that left scars all over. Nasty stuff not to be taken lightly in my book.
