Anyone have experience with the S&W 317 kit gun ? I'm looking for a small 22 revolver. I'm familiar with the older kit guns , are the new ones good quality ? DO I have any other choice such as taurus ?

Don't have a Kit Gun right now; gave my very old (pre-model numbers) Kit Gun to my son so he could teach his daughters to shoot.
If a single-action suits your needs, take a look at the Ruger Bearcat...small fixed-sight SA. Or the Ruger Single-Six in .22, available with either fixed or adjustable sights.
If you need a DA revo, Ruger offers the SP-101 model in a 4" .22, although it IS a bit heavy, at around 34 ounces.
Kind of pushing the Rugers, but I am not familliar with the Taurus line.

Taurus makes a nice little 9 shot model 94. It's the same size as the S&W model 34/63.
I would prefer the new, or a used Taurus; or a used S&W 34/63, over the newer S&W 317.

I've got a kit gun. Nice little gun. The fiber optic sight is a bit big for accuracy work. Like most revolvers these days, it probably will be in need of a trigger job, but that wasn't expensive or hard to do.
