I'm thinking about buying one of these for sporting clays. Before I take the plunge($1400 at Bass Pro) would appreciate some advice on the pros and cons?? Thanks

Ok, I'll give you a basic pro and cons list

Pros:
-It's a semiautomatic, you will feel much lower recoil than with an O/U
-It's Beretta's nicest semi-auto (without getting fancy on engraving and wood)
-It's a darned nice shotgun
-You'll probably love it to death and never wear it out

Cons:
-Price, at $1400 it's twice what you could pay for a Remington 1100
-It's a gas-operated semi-auto, it's going to be a pain to clean
-You could get a lower cost Beretta that would operate the same way and shoot the same way with lower grade wood and a less fancy looking receiver and still be happy.
-It's probably going to be as reliable as a cheaper semi-auto, think Benelli M2 or Remington 1100.
-For about $300 more you could get an O/U and spend less time worrying about if your ammo will cycle or cleaning the dirty gas systems.

But if it's what you are lusting for, you should get it! I bought a competition model SKB O/U after looking very hard at a Beretta auto. A year later and 6,000 rounds later I'm happy with my O/U and have had no problems, but I still would love a Beretta to shoot also.

Can't comment on the Teknys specifically, but I have a 391 Sporting in 12 Gauge and love it. I shoots everything I've put through it. Recoil is almost non existant with Winchester "Extra Lite" Target Loads.

I paid around $750 for it new several years ago from my local FFL. Came with a jacket, hat, extended choke tubes, gel recoil pad, & tru glo sight due to a special they were running at the time. Money well spent in my opinion. The new models come with the Optima chokes.

If you want to save some cash get the Sporting 12. If you like the Teknys, go for it!

I dont have the Teknys, but i do have the Extrema2. Cost me $1250, and worth it. Accurate, reliable with any load, recoil is pretty damn low.

Don't buy the Teknys unless you are just looking for the green or blue sticker that is on the receiver (which comes off easily) or for the mercury recoil reducer that is in the stock.
I was drooling over the teknys until a friend of mine guided me to the Urika Optima Sporting. My gun has better wood than the Teknys and cost about $350-$400 less.

Yeah its a pain to clean but thats only after 500 rds or so. The recoil is non existant. The gun is a dream to shoot. Hope that helps. PM or Email me if you have any other specific Questions. BTW, I have shot the Teknys also....(100 rd sporting clays) and honestly could not tell a difference.
