robinson, krebs, stag, a few others. I still think the grindel or the 6.5 spc will overtake it, easier for the military to switch to them, than the 6.8

Bushmaster just came out with a line of 6.8SPC rifles. Model 1 Sales and CMMG have had uppers for sale in 6.8 for a while as well.

Most load data that I see has a 115gr varmint bullet stepping out at around 2600fps from a 20" tube. A few folks can reliabily get 2600+fps, but many folk seem to be getting 2500fps and change, especially those folks with 16" barrels.

I can get 2450fps from my 16" 7.62x39, and (while I'm no expert oni the matter whatsoever) I doubt that the difference would be noticable inside of 300 yards under most conditions. Certainly, it's not proven compelling enough of a chambering for me to build that 6.8SPC upper I keep telling myself that I just *have to have*.

The only chance it ever had, was to become a USGI cartridge. Since that ain't gonna happen, it's DOA.

Remington makes the Model 7 now in 6.8SPC. Everybody that is anybody is selling 6.8 uppers, bolts and barrells. More hogs and deer will be killed this than year than last year with the round. It will not be the new 5.56 Nato but it still has a shot at becoming the next .40S&W.

I would agree - it's not going to disappear. But it certainly isn't about to take over the intermediate-chambering market any time soon.

Zak Smith probably has more stick time with the 6.8SPC than any other THR member that I know. Anyone having questions about the 6.8SPC might wanna send him a PM and see what he has to say.
