Customized Colt Series 70 with NP3!

I guess I'm the only one posting pics of customs.
Well I know a few of you enjoy them.
The finish is NP3 by Robar. It is electroless nickel impregnated with Teflon.
Very slick.

Glad you are showing customs; sure beats the people showing stock guns for the benefit of those who can't find a catalog.

I really like the round butt, I have to be in a tiny minority who don't like the Bobtail but something needs doing and that looks about right. The magazine well flare is very sensuous and probably works.

I don't hold a gun by the back end of the slide and see no need for serrations or checkering there.

Sights extended rearwards are great for a half inch more sight radius target shooting, but I don't like them for carry in a close holster, they dig in even if rounded like this one.

Of course if I were paying for it, I could order it like I wanted it, couldn't I?

I've heard of a hair trigger, but that looks like a hair beavertail. Does it take more time to smooth up the internals or the externals?

What type of rear sights are those?

Very nice, smooth.

Love the beavertail fit...seamless.

What type of rear sights are those?I think those are Heinie's that Chuck has modified.

Makes my Series 70 look like, well, plain!

Thans for sharing. Wonderful work!

Thanks for the nice comments! :)

Tim is correct about the rear sight being a modified Heinie Slant-Pro.
It was modified in this manner to facilitate one hand slide manipulations.
The front of the rear blade is hooked on a belt, holster or shoe and the gun is thrust forward, working the slide.
The first one done in this manner was at the request of a nationally recognized firearms trainer who wishes to remain anonymous.
I'm just finalizing a new design which will be less snag-prone and more user friendly.

What is the approx turn around time to get this finish done??
I have a Gold Cup that is my carry weapon and REALLy don't want to be without it for an extended period of time

Nice Gun. I also like the rounded butt, and do not care for the bobtails.

Electroless nickel is easily my favorite finish; I just love the way it looks.
One of the first things I did to my Kimber Custom years ago was to send it out to have it electroless nickel plated (EABCO French Grey, also PTFE impregnated).

Though it's less resistant to wear than hard chrome, it's claimed to be superior against corrosion. And again, I just like to looks of it. :)
It may not be the bomb against holster-wear, but in my case I'm sure it's better than the blue it replaced.

FWIW, my Kahr K9 came from the factory with electroless-nickel in '96 (before stainless was offered). I've carried this pistol in a leather shoulder holster and belt holster in winter months and a belly band and IWB in warmer months for years without the slightest hint of holster wear or corrosion. I believe it holds up better than most folks might expect.

Ive got a 70 series commander that I sent off to robar to get the NP3 treatment about 4 years ago I also carry it extensively and havent seen any signs of wear or Corrosion of any type anywhere. it is my opinion that its the BEST finish out there, although kinda pricey I would (and will) do it again.
