My birthday is just 6 wks away and I'm needing a different concealed carry weapon (hauling the Witness Carry-Comp is getting to be a wear and I need another reason to hold off on buying my girlfiend <yes the spelling is correct > some more shoes or clothes). Thanks to my Pops, I have some more cash than I had expected.

My budget is $300-$500 and need the cash to by ammo (both practice and carry), a holster, speedloaders or mags

Now the line-up:

Glock 19: Okay the troll is starting to grow on me. I have 3 mags for it already (Dad sent them saying "You probably jave a buddy who'll buy em."), and I always have 9x19 laying around.

SP-101: .357 Magnum, 2.25" and DA/SA or DAO. Have .38 Spec./.357 Mag laying around. It's simple, ugly, functional and pretty accurate.

EAA Witness P-Carry: Pretty (in my eyes), reliable (if my Carry-Comp is an indicater), I always have .45 ammo and I have 8 mags for it already.

(Used) S&W 19 or 66 (2.5" barrel): Classic carry revolver albeit harder to find (in my neck of the woods).

Lemme know what you all think and why you voted the way you did.

Regards and Semper Fi!

I carry an SP101, but I sure don't think of it as ugly.

I'm "old school" and have always been partial to revolvers. Even carried one in Vietnam.

The pricing of the Ruger and the fact that one can field strip it are two of the major points. It is a bit heavy, true, but that is a good thing when the shooting starts <G>.

For me, it's a tough question. I really like the G19, the model 19 and the SP101. Really, if I had to, I'd probably go w/ the Glock because of its weight advantage...if I went w/ the wheelgun, I'd go w/ the model 19. I love both my G19 and model 19 so I might be a tad biased
Do you have a preference...semi or wheelgun?

Another vote for the sp101. Powerfull and easy to conceal. If you try one you'll probably buy one. Better yet, ditch the fiend so you have more money for guns!

I would say the sp101 as well.

Two things, if you think of her as a "girlfiend," time to dump her and get new one. If you REALLY think of her like that, you're wasting your money on her.

On the choices, while I don't have a Glock, I've heard a lot of good things about them. However, I've recently heard they've had problems too. If I was to buy a Glock now, it would HAVE to be a USED one. But again, that's just my opinion.

IF, however, you're more attracted to the wheelgun, I'd go for the SP101. Although I'd be more inclined to find an old Security Six. I just have a preference (and love) for the older Ruger designs. My first large caliber wheel gun was the Police Service Six, with a 4" barrel. This was followed by a Security Six with a 2.75" barrel. My last Ruger was the .44 magnum Redhawk with the 5.5" barrel. I loved them all, wish I'd never had to get rid of them.

Good luck!

FWIW - My G19 is "fairly" new, bought it around March I think...no problems so far. And you could probably guess, I voted G19 just 'cause it's what I CCW.

Get the Ruger...........Beautiful little gun.
Carry one on my belt every day.
Got a few. DSW claims one of them as hers.
Have fun.

Glock 19...More firepower...

I say go with the M19/66 for two reasons. The Smith is an excellent handgun and will serve admirably as a CCW. Buying used will leave you with enough cash left over for the accessories you mentioned. You will also be buying something of a collectors item as the M19/66s are no longer in production. Oh, I just thought of a third reason to get the Smith over the others on your list. It's by far the prettiest of the group.

Glock 19 because it's the best of the lot!!!

I'd take a hard look at the G26 as well. It accepts the G19 mags you already have and it's more concealable!!

If it were the G26 or G27 I would have voted Glock. But the very pretty and very stout SP101 is an ideal carry. I little heavy, yes... But that won't be felt in a proper holster. My wife carries on an the hip and loves it. I carry it occ. when she isn't.

Bullet proof!

I prefer the snub nose revolver, it is in my opinion easier to conceal.

G-19 for me. Carried it for a while until I went with my 228. Very comfortable, 16 rounds of +p, and (not that I ever would have needed them), two additional 17 round G-17 mags.

Of those choices, for me, definitely the SP101. Don't care for "safe action" triggers, a bias of mine. The SP is powerful, light on the hip, accurate, rugged to the max, and BTW BEAUTIFUL! :D

There are a large selection of guns available today for CCW. Big change from 20 years ago where you carried a 38 or a 45 if you were serious, or a 22 or a 25 if you weren't. That being said, and having owned my share of the weapons available, I have to say go with Glock. The G19 in particular is one of the finest weapons ever designed in terms of durability, reliability, accuracy, and concealability. If I could own only one firearm, it would probably be a Glock, and the 9x19 is superb in terms of balancing cost vs. firepower.
