No, they are slightly different. All the major manufacturers and taurus make several different styles. I like the Taurus combat grips for around $8. You can get them right from taurus. Check em out on their websight.

The problem isn't the grips, it's the Taurus frame. If you remove the Taurus grips you'll find a hole on the left side of the frame. The J frame grips won't cover the hole. Also, the grip pin location is different. Drill a new hole for the pin and the Taurus grips will work on a J frame.

I'm very happy with the ones that came on my M85UL. They're very compact and concealable, yet shoot well/point well and absorb some of the impact of +P loads.

Does anyone have information on aftermarket grips for Taurus compact frames?
I have a M-450 Titanium in .45 Colt and I'd really like to set it up so that it doesn't look 75% grips and 25% revolver. All Taurus seels are the ribber grips.
Thanks:confused:

Ajax has most of their grips for the small frame Taurus. These would look really classy. ;) http://www.ajaxgrips.com/ajax/ajax?set=02

McGunner, just curious.

Why would you put 250 dollar grips on a 300 dollar gun?

I believe the Taurus 450 is built on their "compact" frame, not the "small" frame which is used for the 5 shot 38s.

I found that houge combat grips give you a place for that third finger and takes up the recoil alittle more. I use them on my mdl 605, .357 SS, CH

i second the Hogue grips for the 605. Much more pleasant (although not exactly really fun) to shoot with .357s.

The only stag grips I got from Ajax are on an engraved Ruger stainless Blackhawk in .45 Colt. It ain't an expensive gun, but it's a great shooter and now it's purdy.:D I wouldn't put stags on my Taurus, but some might. But, Ajax sells all sorts of grips for the Taurus revolvers, even got Hogue and Pachmayr stuff. I bought some $45 Pearlite grips for a little Rossi M68. I just like the way it looks. I call it my "pimp gun". I got those grips from Ajax and they have 'em for Taurus revolvers. But, on my Taurus, I really like the grips it came with for feel and function.

But, if someone puts $250 grips on a $300 revolver (I've seen Ivory grips on a 642 Smith before and they're $400 plus if you can get 'em) I may think it's weird, but it's their gun. They obviously know what they like. I'll admire the grips and question the guy's sanity in private. :D

But, I must explain, when I got that Blackhawk engraved, the engraving was $250, but the stag grips were only $75 at that time. They HAVE gone up!:what:
