First off, I'd like to say hello to every one at THR , bein' a noob and all, and I'm sure I'll have a good time here. Now on to my problem...I've been trying to replace the firing pin in my M-11, but the only way to do that is to take out the firing pin retaining pin. Now that sounds easy enough right, well thing is the dang retaining pin won't budge...at all. I've tried using a punch on the right and left side of the pin, but it's like the thing is welded in place. What gives? I need help guys any you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, atf163

According to JB Woods book "Firearms Assembly/Disassembly Part V:Shotguns Second Edition" page 49 fig. 30=

"drift out the cross pin at the rear of the bolt toward the RIGHT, and remove the firing pin toward the rear"

If she won't budge, support it very well (the bolt) on the right side, and using a proper size punch on the left side, continue to tap it. Try soaking it in break free or PB blaster. I would highly advise NOT to apply heat.

According to the figure, the pin is not much of an interference fit. I hope this helps you.

Thanks Sigfan, I was actually considering using heat until I read your post. Got some PB Catalyst to soak the bolt in and the pin finally came out. Thanks for the heads up.
