Well, I don't own one but I shoot a friend's 1911 as much as I can. I want one of my own but don't know which one to get.:(

Both for targets/fun... Glock 34 and 26 for Home defense and concealed carry.

I've owned several of both. Of the two types I only have a 1911 now. And I don't expect that to change. :D

I've owned both & currently posess neither, but if the right one came along at the right price, I'd get me another 1911!

Glock? I barely came to the point where I could say the name without a derisive snort and then I saw Paul Januzzo on 60 Minutes and can't say the name with a straight face now.
It'll be a cold day in hell before I buy a pistol made by a foreign corporation that is actively collaborating to sell out our freedom to own handguns without undue interference from the government.:cuss:

Own several 1911s and one Glock.
Shoot both but shoot MUCH more 1911. ;)

Both guns are great. But for me, the 1911 was my final choice after wringing both platforms out.

I own a 1911. I like it. The Glock is good as well. I don't own one.

Glock 19 was my first gun. Shoot it best of all my pistols. Will never sell it. "From my cold dead hands...."
I tinker with and fondle my Springfield Loaded most. That gun just feels good in my hands. Wont sell this one, either.
Truth be told, I wouldn't be heartbroken if the Springfield were stolen--I'd just buy another. Maybe even a Kimber. My Glock? If it were stolen, I'd look like this: :fire:  :scrutiny: :( ....:( .
1911 style fit me, I shoot them best and I prefer metal guns. I have shot this more than any other platform. 1911's run for me when they won't for others.
Glocks don't fit me, and they don't like me. I have taken new guns out of the box -broken. Don't let me shoot your Glock...trigger systems break, night sight fall off...I'm a jinx

Own both, love both. Been carrying Glocks for years, but am in the process of switching to my SW 1911 for carry, as I love the slimness. Won't get rid of my Glock 19 - may get rid of my Glock 21.

I have a Glock for defense and my 1911 is strictly a target gun.

Presently just own glocks (19 and 23). I like the 1911 though and if I were to buy one it would either be the Colt Gold Cup or a Kimber. I've tried both and they are sweet.

First gun, Charles Daly 1911.
And I also own a Glock 22.
And still enjoy both.

Four of one, two of the other.
Mostly tote one of my 1911's.

Between the two I've owned only 1911s, from a Springfield Mil-Spec to a Charles Daly to my current Kimber Custom. I can hardly believe I've never even fired a Glock yet! I'd like to try out a G19...those have always struck me as a nice balance in size/weight/capacity.

What is that one on the far right?

I own both, but have not shot the 1911 style guns in probably 7 or 8 years. I shoot and carry only Glocks, and have for years.

Daniel Flory,
Far right is a Colt Gov't .380 in Nickel.

Thanks Smoke. It looked bigger than a Colt .380 to me for some reason.

I voted Glock. I only have a 9mm. Soon, hopefully, a 10mm (Glock). If I were to ever buy a .45 it would be a 1911.

Never was pleased with the Glocks I've owned and the M1911 is one of my favorites. The other two are the Browning Hi-Power and the Kahr K-9, never figured I would go with a DAO but I did.

Glocks are great firearms, however I cannot shoot them worth a dar, so the 1911 wins out in this poll for me.

I am issued a Glock 21 for Patrol. But now I am assigned to the drug unit and I can carry a different gun if I want. I carry my Kimber. Both are good guns. The 1911 is slightly easier to shoot. The Glock is more tolerant of neglect. Both are good guns.

I appreciate both designs.
The Combat Commander has fine accuracy, balance, ergonomics, tuned trigger and it is beautiful.
The G36 is concealable, light weight, durable and powerful for such a small, light pistol. I like the fact that I don't have to worry about bumping things with it, dropping it, or scratching it.
The G36 could be bought in most any gun shop.
The Combat Commander would be difficult to replace.

I only have a Glock and I only shoot that one handgun. I don't have much use for a second handgun, BUT when I look at the pictures of Lendringser's Springfield... *sigh*
...I'm tempted.
PS: Saw a Browning High-Power at the range today. Not that bad either. ;)

I must be one of the few that don't really like either. I hate Glocks and I am not crazy about 1911s. If I had to carry one, Glock. If I had to trust one, Glock. If I had to compete with one, 1911. If I had to live with one, 1911.
I did just buy a Star B which is kind of like a 1911 but somehow more gracefull. I don't like the falt mainspring housing of most new 1911s. The arched rules!

1911's only!! Never met a Glock I liked yet.
Now somebody has to poll 1911 with a BHP then its a toss up for me.

Have had some of both, have only the 1911's. SVI and Caspian.
I gave the Glock's a chance 1,2 and 3 times just can correct the grip angle and the trigger pull and I just don't get along.
And for future guns I see STI and SVI being the bulk of them.

I shoot 1911 in 45 99% of the time. It's hard for me to become "comfortable" with a gun like Glock after so many rounds with the 1911.
But, I think they are a great gun in 9mm and wouldn't hesitate to buy one-if I needed one. Someday, a model 19 with some "trigger enchancement".
That Colt 380 in the photograph did look larger than what I remember, nice guns though. Wouldn't that be nice in 9mm.

glocks feel like bricks.
1911's don't.

I really like the Glock. I never got used to the SA of a M1911, and instead cut my teeth on Kahrs, DAO (hammer shrouded) revolvers, and Glocks first. So, one of the things I have found is that folks that have shot SA or cocked DA handguns got used to that crisp trigger.
I often think the disdain for the Glock is rooted in the dislike of the trigger, which I like, because I am used to it. Indeed, I prefer the Glock trigger to all handguns. Just personal preference.
Those who do not like Glocks because they are partially made of polymer, or manufactured in Austria, well . . . no comment.

I own a 1911 (Rock Island Armory) and my future father-in-law has semi-permanently loaned me his Glock 22 since my boss really would like us all to carry .40 Glocks. He hasn't yet convinced me to join the dark side and start carrying it for work though.

Both; Kimber Ultra CDP is primary, Glock 26 is secondary.

I have both, use both, and like both also. The edge definitly goes to the 1911. My only real gripe with the Glock is that its more ammo sensitive than my 1911. In fairness my G21 has never sputtered with factory ammo, but hey, I'm a reloader so that does sway the bias towards the 1911. The Glock does make a good BUG to the 1911 though. (Sometimes.)
