I don't know why he wants one, but I know why it is $1200.
They are trying to discorage anyone from actually ordering one.

It's the ultimate SAK collectable.
They're made individually on an order basis.

And they make great wheel chocks.:p

OK, I get that it is a gag. I actually kinda think it is a funny collectible. If I was independently wealthy and liked SAKs, I might even get one, IF there was any possible way to USE it. But...I mean...it's wider than it is long. It is a completely nonfunctional (in a practical sense) conversation piece.

I...just don't get some people.

I'd make it $5k - I can't hardly put a single blade slipjoint together and would hate to make that! :)

OK, I'll be the first to say,
this is the ultimate absurdity.

;)

Calm down, now. Not demeaning any one.

I get it. Nice prank.

But, really, it IS an absurdity.

Kind of like an over, under & in between with these barrels:

.17
.22
.243
.357
7m08
9mm
.308
.40
.45ACP
.50
.410
20 ga.
16 ga.
12 ga.

I'll take my Benchmade Osborne any day.
(Toothpicks are extra.)
