...specifically the limited edition one with the 18.5 inch barrel, pistol grip, and the breaching muzzle break. I've already got an 870P so this wont be filling a gap, and please no editorials on pistol grips on shotguns. I don't have an aversion to them, but it would probably be replaced anyways.

Does this version come with the 590 series or only the 500, and how is it for a beater shotgun.

Mossbergs are darn good shotguns. Good for rough conditions.

They may not hold up as long as an 870, but it will take more than one generation to tell.

I got one too. Wouldnt trade it for anything.Up close and personal you cant beat a shotgun for HD.I keep it loaded with #4 buck and up to 20 feet it will stop most anything I would want to shoot.

I have but one suggestion if you decide to buy a Cruiser.
Spend some extra money and install a Pachmayer pistol grip and forend on the gun, you will be amazed at the increase in control and comfort when shooting full power shells through the gun.

I carried a 500 in Iraq and hunt with a 590 at home. No complaints with
function or durability. I was pleased with slug accuracy even from a
smoothbore at 100 yds (on my civie 590; no hollow point slugs in combat
allowed.)

Pistol grips are great for breaching, inside your house or other tight (close)
quarters. I actualy went with a folder on the 500 while another guy did the
m4 style collapsable.
