Hey fellas!...I'm looking to get a Deer & general-purpose rifle for out here in the country. I'm looking at the Micro in .243 to fulfill that task. I prefer a bolt-action to the other types, and the weight, length and caliber for the terrain here in Mid-Missouri. What are your thoughts on this?
If you have other ideas, keep in mind weight, length and caliber. Thanks.

I have an A-bolt SS synthetic stalker With a lefthanded bolt in 30-06. If you like it go for it. I love mine, shoots like a tac driver, and is great in the woods. Oh yeah Buy a nice scope for it, Like a Leupold.

I can't say much for the .243 since I have never used it. Thats for someone else to answer. But I do think it would fit the bill nicely.

Browning A-bolts are VERY nice guns.

Thanks garrett...I am looking at the Leupold Rifleman series in the 3-9X40. I decided on the .243 because my sometimes-arthritic shoulder gives me fits with the 06 and .308.

My deer hunter mentor told me to get a .243 30 years ago. I went with the Winchester Model 70 Featherweight. Started with a fixed 4x Redfield. Moved up to a 3x9 Leupold. Lots of venison. Lots.

I've had the same gun in .270. Also have the BAR Stalker in .308 & 300WSM. None of them seem to kill the deer any deader. None make that distinctive sharp crack in the woods that just says fresh tenderloin. It's about time again in Oregon. High Cascades hunt the 9th of September. The 243 will be on the trip.
