A friend of the family, knowing that I'm thinking about a shotgun, offered me his Benelli Nova for $300. It's like new and supposedly has only had 20 rounds run through it. I've known this guy for years and I doubt that he's lying about it's condition. What's the going price on one of these? Is $300 a good deal for a used Benelli, or do I have some room to talk to him down?

A quick check on www.gunsamerica.com shows that it's definately on the lower end of the scale (good for you). If you want a Nova and have the cash, the price seems decent.

If I were intent on buying it, I might ask to shoot it first, to see how it fits and how I liked it. I have played with them in stores a number of times, and almost purchased one on at least two occasions, but something keeps holding me back.

$300 is the cost of New In Box Benelli Novas. www.impactguns.com has them for $300 the last time I checked. Gander Mountain, Dicks Sporting Goods, etc. sell NIB for the same price. I got mine for $290 NIB.

Bass Pro has been advertising them for $299. Back in the spring, My friend got 1 for $279 because it was a display model. He really likes his so far.

Yep I was looking at the home defense version yesterday and it was 319$ NIB. However 20rds is nothing and you might be skipping the DOJ, tax, waiting period etc for a gun you know works and is a little broken in if you trust the guy. Good luck

i recenlty sold mine for $240 in good condition with the additional recoil (i think i paid ~$50 for it). They will kick the H out of you without the recoil. The gun almost ruined a duck hunt in Alaska.

Here in DFW, the Sports Authority and Cabelas both sell the Nova full synthetic for $279.

I just picked one up and am headed out tonight for opening day of dove season...will let you know what I think.

I'm not running anything larger than 3" (also using leftover 2 3/4" Heavy Dove from last year), so I don't expect recoil to be a big issue.

I had a 20ga Nova for a while. Damn thing wouldn't cycle properly unless you FULLY stroked the action all the way to the stop. Got really annoying after a while. Plus the sight ramp had the shot hitting about 30 yards out, anything past that you'd have to compensate DOWN.

Glad I sold it. I get better trap scores with my single shot NEF I paid $30 for.:scrutiny:

Hello all. I notice this thread is very old, but after looking for this very gun and researching endlessly, I have ran across this thread. I notice several people talking about this gun in the $300 range. I suppose this is because the newer models coming out these days are more expensive than a couple of years ago? I have called all over the DFW north Texas area and the best price I can find for a new Nova is $350. Anyone know where to get a better price in the North Texas area?

welcome, dgreeney... I think that you might have better luck finding info in a thread that is NOT 3 years old...do you want to start a zombie thread outbreak?

I would try budsgunshop.

Oh, and $350 sounds like a pretty good price...depending on what model you are looking for...I think they have a certain model line that runs for $339 but I don't think it gets any cheaper than that.

$250 and under used is the norm around here, western slope.

My advice...hold out for a SuperNova if you are going to go with Benelli.

You should be able to find a nice used one for around $400 or so (give or take based on options and condition).

Whoops!! I just noticed how old this thread was.

Im sure this guy has figured it out by now. Man, I need to figure out how to delete my unnecessary posts! :)

Still, for any reading this (who might be considering a Nova), Ill stick with my original thought; Go with the SuperNova...

Get a Limbsaver recoil pad for the Nova. They make it a nice soft shooting gun.

I bought my Nova w/extra cantilever rifled barrel for 350 a few years back. Great gun. Sounds like a decent price-

I paid $325.00 for my barely used nova 12ga. in Realtree AP. Camo with the box and the three chokes plus tool which was for sale in the local news paper. :) also, had a black sling on it.
