I just picked up a BHP 9mm today, (bought it used, but is LNIB)..Got it home and tried to load mag. with my 9mm Luger ammo, and the mag. is too wide..
The mag that I got with it is a MEC-CAR, obviously not original to gun..
But it fits in magwell perfect...QUESTION!!! Is.40 cal. mag compatible to 9mm magwell??
I've never owned either until today..Just a Colt Commander, Walther ppk/s, Walther P-38, Berretta 21 A and a Colt .25 acp...
So this .40 cal. 9mm stuff is all new to me...(exept for my P-38, which is a wwll relic and have shot once in 18 yrs and then put up for keep sake only)..

Any response is appreciated..

Thx. Tom

Yes, the .40 mag should fit in the 9mm frame. That was the beauty of .40 S&W More powerful rounds in the same size frame. Fortunately for you 9mm BHP mags are cheap and plentiful
Check CDNN

Thanks GW,

I just thought I had done my homework...I always kinda wanted a BHP, and after what I thought was intensive research between the .40 and the 9mm, I thought I knew my stuff.
Obviously, that little piece of info was never brought to my attention until now.
Guess I'll try and make'em gimme another mag. This time a real Browning one!!:banghead:

Thank you again,
Tom

I recently picked up a pair of 15 round MecGar magazines for my 9mm BHP from Midway USA (http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=477345).

They are relatively inexpensive compared to other firearm magazines and they work great.

Thanks, I just went there and saw them..They are half the price of the one's at the place in San Antonio where I got the gun...

Take care,

Mec-Gar is the original equipment manufacturer for a lot of big names in gun magazines--SiG, for instance. I trust their stuff completely.

...on a .40 mag and make it feed 9mm reliably. That was the trick back when you couldn't find 9mm mags that held more than 10 rounds. Get the .40 mag, tighten up the feed lips, and you could get 13 or 14 rounds in there. I did it for about a year with the HS2000 (XD9) and with my first CZ-75. two or three taps with a brass hammer and you have a 9mm magazine. This is especially helpful in ****, as long as the mags still "work" in the .40 pistol, you haven't broken any laws.

I believe MecGar was an OEM supplier of magazines to Browning.

What? You must be talking about rifle mags. I've never seen a pistol mag that could be fed like that. Pistols feed from the center of the mag, rifles from either side.
You really have a magazine that can be fed like that? Got a picture?
EDIT: I saw you fixed that. For a second I was headed out to unload and load my staggered mags.

CDNN has "South African Police" (or some such BS) BHP 17 round mags that work like a champ in my BHPs. I ran them hard during Brownie's 2-day point shooting course where we went through 1,500+ rounds of ammo. They're cheap also at $15/ea. http://cdnninvestments.com/hip9mm17blun.html

after you sort this mystery mag out....then use ONLY factory or Mec-Gar...anything else, might work, but factory and mec-gar...DO work.

Once again, Arc-Lite knows just what he's talking about. Mec-Gar makes Browning's magazines for them, so either of them WILL work. I've never had a problem with either of them.

Took mag. back to gun store, and they replaced it with original BHP mag..
They also threw in a box of shells for my trouble...
That's just plain good business...
Now, I can check this thing out and see how she run's..:D

I had great service from this guy. Huge selection too.

http://www.gunclips.net/browning.html

Gave 10% off first order, basicly covered shipping.

I got some of the 15rd nickle Mecgars, nice mags.:)

Edit: BTW you will love the BHP. They are sweet shooters.

Yeah, 40 cal mags work pretty well in a few diff't firearms (and work well!). I would guess that Mec Gar metal mags would be a top not mag & should work well for you! ;) Enjoy your BHP

Hey, this BHP stuff is for real...I haven't had a chance to go to a range with it yet, but did step outside my house today and cooked a couple of rounds off...
The trigger doesn't seem to be too harse, but it' gonna probably need a trigger job..
Think I'll try the ole' take out the mag safety first and see how it goes..
She runs really sweet, and has a very sexy voice...
Not near as loud as my .45 acp...
Just like driving a Grand Marquis...
I would like once again,to thank all responses on where to get the mags...
