The gun is a Springfield M1A Loaded with the latest Leatherwood scope mount and Leatherwood medium height MAX-TAC scope rings. I can go 25 or 30mm on the scope. I also have a Fulton Armory Front Swivel Picatinny rail on the gun. Yeah I know an M1A is a hunk of iron and I should have gotten an AR. Well it ain't an option in the PRK. Yes I said ain't.:neener:
I got the best battle rifle I could get in the PRK:cuss: for plinking and doing the occasional Three Gun match. I'm not a die hard, have a heart attack if I loose competitor. But, I do not want my rifle to be the reason I loose. What is going to be the best comprimise in sights?

Best bet would be to stick with the iron sights and shoot Heavy Metal class. You'd only be competing against other iron-sight major caliber rifles.
Next best bet would be a 1-4x variable power scope with a wide field of view. I don't think that a Trijicon TA-11 has enough eye relief to use on an M1a.

Okay I've been looking and think I have my choices down to two.
Burris Xtreme Tactical XTR 1.5-6x Ill Plex - or - Nikon Monarch Gold 1.5-6x German #4.
I'd like to know if anyone has an opinion one way or the other.

Good advice. Kae and I have been married for over 4 years. After asking me about gun-related instead of traditional gifts, she bought me a shotgun for my birthday and two flats of shells this past Valentine's Day.
