Thanks to modern technology, we are able to share out (shooting)experiences. And since this is my first post in the Shotgun Forum (What can I say, I'm a handgun guy;) ), here's me giving my 870 a lil work out (it'll never replace my 590 though).

And yes, the reload is a little slow (dug past cell phone, money clip and keys but I got that shell! ).

Enjoy,
L7

Way to stick with it, Lucky.:)

Just a suggestion, but have you tried reloading the weapon by going underneath the weapon? Tray the round with your left hand holding the shell with your index and pinky finger. Index under the receiver and into the breech.

This allows the weapon to be kept in the shoulder pocket and your eyes on the threat. Give it a whirl.:)

Hey, at least you didn't try to load the cell phone. Seen people try to stuff 'em in pistols before but never a shotgun, so far.

Current drill from Awerbuck is to do all the loading through the loading port, to simplify things. He assumes the shooter won't be able to keep up with rounds fired in a pinch and won't know the gun is empty till it clicks. He suggests presschecking the magazine and the chamber in that order if time permits to determine if there are rounds there, and loading the magazine as full as time allows if there's a break in the action.

Shuck fast, shoot straight,
