I take a six pack of Dr. Pepper in the cooler. Nothing like it in the world. What about you folks.

Water.

I have to have my coffee in the am, I enjoy my tea. I get the urge for a soda a couple of times a week. I don't drink alcohol, but I have friends that AFTER shooting enjoy a cool one.

Water.

It's EASY to get dehydrated at the range.

I like the 6 packs of DaSani or the like.

Thought everyone would say coffee. I drink it on the way to the range, even in the summer. Got to be awake before you start shooting, right?

Anything without caffeine... usually just water.

I think it was when I started my 100 yard handgun shooting quest that I figured out that my groups were way way better if I didn't have two Mt Dews after lunch if we were going shooting in the afternoon.

I freeze 3 or 4 cans of diet minutemaid and put them in the pockets of my shooting bag.

In the 105 to 110 degree heat they are just about perfect
by the time I'm ready for them.

Coffee on the way to the range. If I'm shooting for score (i.e. Highpower or trap), then no more than a couple cups.

Water at the range.

A Diet Pepsi or plain-old Coke when I'm done.

Usually water while at the range, although I need my joe each morning.

When I shot in DCM matches, I would avoid caffeine all day until I was done, though. I'm unsteady enough without chemical assistance. :D

"You may talk of gin and beer
When you're quartered safe out here,
And sent to penny fights and Aldershotit,
But when it comes to slaughter,
You will do your work on water,
And lick the bloomin' boots of him that's got it."

from "Gunga Din" by Rudyard Kipling.

Not the same stresses at the range (luckily), but I like water to drink there.

Well a few weeks ago Darrin and I head to the range. We stop at walmart to get ammo'd up. Saw a couple bottles of like a half gallon or so of apple juice for a dollar a piece. So we grab a bottle a piece. I got severly dehydrated and thristy at the range so kept chugging the stuff. Went though the entire bottle of stuff before we left.

At which point i remembered....apple juice in excess is a pretty good laxative :what: It took me maybe a week-week and a half to get regular again.

DONT DRINK APPLE JUICE AT THE RANGE

On the way to the range: the biggest, baddest, most powerful, quad-shot, strawberry mocha in the Starbucks arsenal.
At the range I like Arrowhead bottled water.

I'm a water guy myself, either bottles or the Camelbak. I did hear an appalling story last Thursday, though.

Apparently, at the big annual muzzleloader rendezvous in Friendship, Indiana, beer is the beverage of choice. The pattern is: sit on tailgate of truck behind firing line, drink beer. On signal, step to firing line with rest of relay. Load front-stuffer and fire for score. Step off line and return to tailgate, drink more beer. Repeat all day.

I don't know if my colleague (who has been to Friendship several consecutive years) was exaggerating, but even if this is only partly true, you can count me out. I'm glad someone else from my company got picked for "Friendship detail" this year. I asked him if he had body armor.

Water. Wash hands & face before pulling water from container/bag. You don't want to get lead on it and drink the stuff. Heavy metals may be your friends, but you don't want it inside of you.
