Some of you may be aware of a fit problem I'm experiencing with my Browning 425. I'm at the stage now where I'm trying to decide whether to cut bait and sell it, getting a new gun, or having a custom stock made.
The price of a custom stock is not cheap, and the other day I was thinking "If I'm looking at a custom stock, why not a custom gun?". Financially, I could probably just swing a K-Gun (hey, the kids don't really need to eat EVERY day, do they?), and when I'm shooting well, may even be "worthy".
I then started thinking about other options, such as a Beretta 391 Sporting autoloader... maybe even one of the semi-custom jobs from Seminole.
Suddenly, I realized that my mind was weighing everything against the cost of a used 870. I would factor that into the consideration, just like Dave McC. Let's see... a 391 Sporting would run, hmmm... about 3 - 4 used 870s. A K-Gun, roughly 50 (Yikes!). The never-ending posts about 870s had gnawed deep into the recesses of my brain.
So, as a nod to Dave's tireless and invaluable work here, I propose adopting the DMMU (Dave McCracken Monetary Unit, pronounce dee-mew), which is defined as the average cost for a well-used but functional Remington 870.
What do you think?
