I have been wanting to buy a 1911 for sometime now and i've narrowed it down to springfield and smith and wesson. Both have the features i want (5'' barrel, adjustable sights, 3 hole trigger, stainless) and both are under $1000 new. The springfield target model i found for about $915 with 2 7+1 mags and SW for around $800 with 2 7+1 as well. What do you all think?

I have both and would opt for the S&W.

Love my SW1911. Mine came with 8 rounders. The mag capacity is the same for either gun. Just depends on if you prefer 7 or 8 round mags.

Well guy's (and gal's), I've now added the matte stainless S&W 1911
.45 ACP too my collection. Picked it up this week-end at the shop for
a song; NIB with doc's, etc. After my friend and fellow THR member
Joe Hatley shared his awesome pic's and provided excellent range
reports 'bout this gun; I just had to try one myself. It will be going
to the range the first Saturday in October; before my VOL's take
the field. :D
