Someone posted in another thread a possible solution for a weak recoil spring is to "stretch" it. I have a .25 ACP pistol that I am trying to find a new spring without success. If this is possible how much should it be stretched and what tools and procedure should be used? Thanks for all tips.

Stretching the spring would only be a temporary fix.

Try going to Wollf at www.gunsprings.com If it is a common gun they will have a spring for it.

Yes, stretching it would only last you a few shots. When they're worn out, they're worn out.

Even if Wolff doesn't list it, call them and talk about it. If a spec can be found anywhere, or it can be figured out from examining the existing spring, they can make up a new one for you.

Out of curiosity, what gun is it?

The gun is a CZ Model 45 made in the late 40's. I have checked Gun Parts Corp in NY but they show no parts for it. Sounds like Wolff or one of the other spring makers may be the best chance of finding one.

After I made the last post I did check Wolff Springs and they did list both a recoil spring and a magazine spring for this pistol. At a price of about eight dollars. Will order one today. Thanks to all for the suggestions.

I got the new spring from Wolff today. Talk about a worn out recoil spring, the new spring was 3/4" longer than the one in the gun. Shoots like a brand new pistol. They even threw in a firing pin spring free of charge. Will replace that one tonite.
