This doesn't sound right to me... my dealer told me that Walther has discontinued the G-22 rifles?
I can see maybe discontinuing a color, but all of them? This is a relatively new product.
Anyone know what is going on?

Dunno...
It's still featured prominently on Walther's website. As I recall, Walther had an increase in sales figures last year that they attributed to the G22. Doesn't seem they'd deep-six it now.
For what it's worth, CDNN's latest catalog has the grey stock version listed for $279.99. Says it's a "custom edition." If they were discontinuing a particular color, and it was the grey one, it'd make sense that CDNN would have them as such.

If there's any truth to what he said, it's one of two things:
1. They're changing color or finish somehow, or d/c'ing a particular color/finish.
2. They're improving the gun somehow, in which case you want the new one.

I'd hate to see it go.... the more guns on the market, the better.
That being said.... the G22 is a damn ugly piece.

I've done business with shops that would attribute any change to their status quo with someone going out of business or something's getting discontinued. I've heard ceaseless yammering about how the Baikal line was going under which turned out to be a simple rebranding through a Remington import deal. Maybe pessimism comes easier to gunshop folks. I tend to favor simple market reasoning which seems to apply to all firms except Colt! Even they sort of make sense given that they have lucrative deals with the military paying thier bills making the civilian market an unsavory afterthought for their marketing people. Either way, I for one think the G-22 is very cool and I know that some of my buddies were hoping to pick one up.

I can think of several examples where a so called "improvement" didnt make me want the new model.
