Stopped by a local hole in the wall shop this afternoon.

They don't have much inventory, but they did have a 1983ish Model 15-4, 4".

Decent shape. Looks like it rode in a holster. Very smooth trigger, good single action, good double action.

There's some wear, some nicks, etc., but overall a solid gun that doesn't appear to have been shot a lot.

One interesting thing is that the barrel is screwed on just a hair crooked, which is VERY common with S&W's of this time frame, and which is, disturbingly, still relatively common.

Price is $249, which is certainly in the ball park given what I've been seeing in Northern Virginia the last few months at the gunshows.

It's speaking to me, but just not very loudly.

If it were a 14 at that price and condition, it would have come home with me (after Fairfax City's assnine 5 day wait).

Decisions, decisions...

My model 27 was like that. I sent it back to Smith & Wesson. It continued to shoot far to the left. I finally had it rebarrelled by the good folks at Clark. It's now as accurate as a Python.

Couragio, fugiamo. The motto of the Italian Army. "Be brave, run away."

Of all S&W revos, the M10, the M15, and the M28 are the least respected, IMHO. If it were pinned, I'd be more tempted. If it were in ANIB condition w/ all the kit, I'd be tempted. As you describe it, I'd stick that two-and-a-half back in my "next acquisition stash" and walk away.

I always got enough problems of my own. Try my best to avoid purchasing new ones ;).
