So, I went shooting and discovered that my Swedish Mauser wouldn't fire.

I stripped the bolt completely, and don't know what the problem is. The pin is fine, and the gun seems to want to fire when assembled (it sounds like the firing pin is dropping), but the firing pin doesn't even dent the primer of the cartridge.

Does anyone have any idea what happened to my weapon?

Clean and Degrease the firingpin channel in the bolt. Lightly oil and reassemble and try again.

Agree, it may be gummed up with decades-old grease.

Is it possible that you need to push the little button on the bolt shroud and screw it one more turn?

That was a mistake I made on a 98-style Mauser :o , don't know if it applies to the 96 model.

Regards.
