Here's the deal. I'm getting my bonus from work in Nov, and it should be about $4500-$5000. I have wanted a TRG in .338 Lapua Mag for a while now and I'm itching to get one. I have fired the Sako 22 in 308 and loved it. The reason that I want one is that over the last year I have started long range shooting. I have a modified Rem 700 in 308 that I can consistantly hit 9" gongs out to 600 yards and I can hit 7-8 out of 10 at 800 yards. I would like something to reach out a little bit farther. Dose anybody have any experience with the TRG 42? Should I get this rifle, or am I insane?

If I should get it, can anyone recomend a scope for this rifle that will let me reach out past 1k yards?

thanks-
Knoxx

I've seen a couple of them in action out to 1k yds. The owners were very happy with their purchases. US Optics or Schmidt & Bender are the "Top dogs" for such applications. If the long range thing is your hobby, I'm sure you'll find the TRG-42 will make you happy.
