I saw a 9mm Hi-Power (new) today that never should have made it past quality control. The bottom of the rear sight was a target adj. that was a 16th of on inch above the top of the slide and the front sight was put into the dovetail titled foward with a gap under the back of the front blade and a scratch in the front from the blade digginf into the slide..:scrutiny:

A visit to the Browning web site confirmed my suspicion that they no longer import the High Power. I think Fabrique Nationale formed a new company to import the pistols. As far as I know, they are still made in Belgium and assembled in Portugal.

Sorry Browning still sells them, they are the same pistol as last year, the year before that, etc.

Can't find any handguns on their newly designed website any more. Does anyone have a link to the models available?
I saw an ad for a new compact DA Browning and was hoping to learn more about it.

A search on browning's website using "hi power" as keywords returns hits, and the pages are accessable, there are just no links to them from the front page (Other than the search function.).

Only FN is marketing (and the various clones like FEG) the BHP design today. Browning no longer is an outlet for this handgun (never really was anyway, as FN originally took a J. M. Browning idea and perfected it after he died - the BHP is more an FN gun than a Browning).
The current BHP is over priced, over rated, and has a terrible trigger. It is pretty, it points well for sure, and is reliable, but if I were to get a BHP design today, I would go with a Hungarian clone, the FEG - much cheaper. Better yet, get a CZ.
The FN BHP is just not worth the money (over $600USD), especially with the cast frames of today. They do have some nerve charging this much for an ancient SA design, but who can blame them - what the market will bear!
Still, I would like to have one.
Just my two cents.

Hello.
Perhaps this will help.

The last 2 NIB Browning Mk III pistols I handled actually had better trigger pulls than previous ones I tried...including the one's I'd purchased. I hope this is a trend that continues.
Best.

Recently bought another BHP and the trigger is just fine; I love this highly accurate pistol! Bought it new for $550 and it is well worth the price. Good hi-cap mags are cheap too!

I think Browning is owned by the same people that own FN.
The Waloon Group (Belgian) if I recall correctly.

Browning for a time stopped marketing the BHP, so FN began importing HiPowers. The FN imports were not / are not as finely finished as the Browning versions, with a terrible finish and deep numbers and import marks all over.
HOWEVER, I just handled a new Browning HiPower at a local gun shop. It looked very much like my late '90's Mk III (which is my usual carry gun) . . . the finish was several steps better than the FN imports. The most obvious difference between this new BHP and my Mk III was the the barrel over the chamber (visible through the ejection port) which carries the caliber designation. On my pistol, this area is smoothly curved, but on the new pistol, the caliber was marked on a small flat.
So the Browning High Power has made a quiet return.

Hello. I'd noticed the same "flat" and caliber marking on the new ones I've seen up here in North Central Texas. I kind of like it, but I keep telling myself, "No, you don't "need" another one", but it keeps preying on my mind!
Best.
