Help from reloaders need.:banghead:

I reload using the Lee Loader set, which are the one that are all in one kit, in a small box.

Most of my sets are new, which identify the caliber on the body die, but I have so with letter, stamped at the bottom.

I purchased one out of a bargain bin and it has the letter "X" on it and no paper work indentifying its caliber. Also looking for "H"

I would like to find a cross-reference list that refers to the letter or create one for me and others to use. So if you use this sets and would like to help me. Post here or email me at alongoria@ev1.net.

In addition, I like to re load with these sets, there are simple to use and finish round very good. However, the time to finish one round is very slow, but if taken in series of steps, 50 rounds is a breezy, a 100 hundred at a time is a bit to much to do in one evening.

I have purchased shell boxes to prepare more rounds in stages.
First, deprime cases. store. clean if needed.
Second, size and prime case, store for later use.
Third, powder and bullet, and finished.

I am using these steps so I can adjust powder and charge, until I find best for me. Right now, I have been using Herco and Blue Dot for 41 mag. and 357 mag. rounds. They have been good so far, mild and clean, good on target.

If you have a favorite, pass it on to me, I use 170 (41) and 158 (357) bullet JSP bullet, Sierra and Speers.

Thanks Alex Longoria, Houston, Texas

Thanks for all the viewings, I guess not may users/web viewer of older Lee Loader sets out there. I suspect that the "X" marking on the bottom has no direct reference, since I emailed Lee Dies directly, with measurements, and was told there was no way to identify Body Die this way. Which I thought I had provided enough measurements, inside dia., inside depth (to an inside ridge, and flairing tool dia.(the flair part). Not even a suggestion on size, I guess a liability on their part.

So I, borrowed a micrometer a measured it. I believe the set is for a 44 mag. The measurements are similar to what a 44 mag might workout to be. The "H" Body Die was for a set on Ebay, I was considering on buying.

If there are any users of Lee Loader, for pistols only, out there, Please check and see if you have an older set with letter marking on the bottom. I am still wondering about why the letter on the Body Die.

Thanks, Alex Longoria

I bought a lee loader off of Ebay a few months ago. It's an older model and it has an "H" on the resizer and my set is for .357 mag.

If you can micrometer the exact demintions of the inside of the resizing die it should be a simple matter of looking up what round it fits. According to my Modern Reloading by Lee a 44 mag case is speced at .457 wide, the same as a 44 special. 44-40 would taper from .446 to .469 but I don't think they made lee loaders in that caliber. .45 ACP is .476 but it would be much shorter than .44 mag/spc and .45 long colt would be .480.

I don't know of any straight walled pistol round that the lee loader was produced for of similar sizes besides those.
