I found an original series Custom CDP (full size) at the local dealer last week. I figured it would make a nice companion piece to my Royal, Pro Carry and Ultra Carry. (Plus, I think the original series Kimbers will one day be as popular as the pre-Series 80 Colt.)
Between new cars, window tinting, and Mother's day, it was not the best time for a new cash purchase, and I hate using plastic for toys.
Well, I had these Springfield Mil-Specs (.40 and .45) that just never really excited me, and both were slated for parts upgrades (grip safetys, sights etc.) when I found the time.
Yep, traded them for the Custom CDP (came with the factory box and papers), I even got a couple of spare mags and a little cash back! :D
This pistol is quite nice, no external wear at all to the stainless slide, or the blackened alloy frame, and the front strap checkering is perfect.
Inside, there is only very minimal wear to the black frame coating, so I don't think it's had very many rounds through it. :D
Now, the only Mil-Spec pistol I have left is my Dad's (1914 vintage) Colt 1911, but I can live with that! :D
BTW, this one shoots very nice! Good accuracy and not a single bobble. Even using the Chip McCormick mags I got as part of "the deal". :D
