now that most of us has put alittle money into these classic pieces of
history...what is the best way to store them to make sure they maintain their close to original condition?.....of course, cleaning then is a no brainer....but what use is needed

Personally, I like a paddle holster.

Of course, having more guns than can be comfortably carried at once, I find it helpful to rely on Boyt gun rugs, too.

Take sock.
Turn inside out
Take Silicone spray and spray sock
turn sock in side out again
place revoler in sock
place sock covered gun in pistol case.

Get RIG or Johnson's Paste wax, coat the guns lightly and wrap lightly with a Hospital surgical towel and put in my range bag. For long term, RIG'd or waxed then wrapped and placed in my gun case.

For long term storage, I have had excellent results with the following:

Wipe gun down inside and out with CorrosionX: http://corrosionxproducts.com/cxforgunspage.htm

Place gun inside a Kleen-Bore "The Inhibitor" storage bag. Squeeze out excess air and seal: http://secure.armorholdings.com/kleen-bore/product396.html

Place bagged gun inside a hard case. I use these: http://www.mtmcase-gard.com/handgun.html

The whole idea to keeping a revolver from aging, is to keep it from oxidizing. Any product that puts a barrier between metals of the gun and oxygen in the air will do fine. Its best if you can also remove charge carriers, such as ions from salts you sweat. That is, clean them, oil them, store them. Keep in mind though, all products will eventually breakdown or run off. Therefore check your stored stuff at least annually to see if they are still coated. I make sure none of mine go more than a year or two without getting pulled out, inspected, cleaned, oiled, petted and stored. Often this precipitates a rekindeling of the love that prompted me to aquire the piece in the first place and necessitates a trip to the range to renew the aquaintence.
