I'm in the market for a Beretta 92FS.

CDNN is advertising Beretta 92f for sale for $419.

Anybody know anything about these? Does CDNN sell discontinued models and are these them? Or is it a misprint?

Has anybody bought one of these?

Also, they are advertising the M9 for $429. What's the difference?

Model 92FS is being replaced by the 90two, M9 is the military model, I didn't think the M9 would be available to the public.

sure you can buy the M9 commercially. It costs a bit more than the regular 92FS.

It's quite possibly those slightly "blemished" ones that are popping up everywhere.

If it is an "F" model, maybe it's old stock from somewhere? I don't know if they still make it since the "FS" model has been around. The difference between the two is minimal....assuming the slide doesn't break in half. The FS model has a machined groove on the left bottom of the slide and one of the pins on the gun has a head on it that rides within the goove. If the slide's back half were to separate/break away from the slide the head of the pin would capture the broken piece and prevent it from flying off into the face of the shooter, as the groove is only long enough to allow the slide to travel back its normal rearward distance. It was implimented when the military had the slide sparations during the early years of the Beretta 92 pistols introduction to the US armed forces. I believe the found the ammo being used was what was at fault....too hot ammo.

The only difference I can visibly see between the 92fs and the M9 is the straight dust cover on the M9 and the upward curving on the newer American-made 92fs. The M9 also comes in special packaging indicating that it's the pistol of the US military.

As far as I know the current commercial M9's are not the blemished models that are also being sold.The M9's are just part of a promotion of the 20th anniversary(not to be confused with the 20th anniversary engraved,presentation box models) and since Beretta was running the 70,000 guns the military ordered they decided to do a few "open market" guns too.The commercial M9's have the poly guide rod and not the metal ones that the military requires.Same stampings though.:)

I just got off the phone with CDNN. I spoke to the rep and he said the guns for sale for $419 are the 92FS, not the 92F (as the ad says).

(So the ad is a misprint?)

He said they are new and they have plenty.

I asked if they were the "blemished" ones I'd been hearing about (even though people can't seem to find the "blemishes") and he said they were not marked as such.

He also said that the M9 for $429 is used. The new M9s are around 6 bills +.

That's what I thought. If it's too good to be true, then it is!
I'd like to have the new 90-Two. I don't think I'd get the M9 as I already have the 92FS, but the 90-Two sure looks nice

Look around -- I've seen NIB M9's going for around $430. With the introduction of the M9A1 and the 90-two, prices on the 92FS and M9 are dropping quickly. My local shop, which usually runs pretty high on new gun prices, had the M9 for around $460.

The commercial M9's have the poly guide rod and not the metal ones that the military requires.

I've been checking the M9's I have on the ship -- about half of them have plastic guide rods. So it's not a hard-and-fast military requirement. Personally, in a marine environment, I'm not opposed to more polymer parts!

I'm shopping around for the 92fs and the SIG 226 in the Salt Lake area. One store has two 92fs left for $489 New plus a $150 gift certificate after you spend $500.The 92fs that the store showed me last Saturday had a long obvious scratch on it near the ejector. After reading one of the other posts, I thought this might have been a blemished gun.

Today I talked to the gun shop that services and sells them. He said that he is out and cannot order them anymore. The reason is that Beretta is phasing them out for the new 90two. He says that I should jump on the price for $489.

If I don't see a better deal at this weeks gun show, I may go pick one up if they are still there.
