Dang, I just figured out how to install new roll pins in the slide of the BHP w/o buggering up the finish on the slide. Unfortunately, I figured it out after I had put a ding or two in the slide.

A large paper clip, straightened...slide that through and well beyond the hole in the slide for the roll pin. Slip the new roll pin onto the portion of the paper clip that extends beyond the slide. Now you can hold the roll pin straight and in place, centered over the hole from the underside of the slide with the paper clip while you tap the contrary roll pin in place. At least 'in place' far enough to use the proper punch to finish the job.

salty.

I always just used a dab of grease to hold 'em in place and a proper roll pin punch to push 'em in place, but your idea is pretty bloody clever. :)

Wow, SaltyDog, that's really smart! I never thought of that, myself. I'm gonna have to write that one down for future reference. :)

Heh... My BHP doesn't have any roll pins. It's too old. :neener:

Still, it's a clever idea, if I ever buy one'a those new-fangled ones with the external extractor. ;)
