I've been doing some reading on these revolvers and I would love to look at one in person but no one seems to handle them. Are they not for sale in the US? Does anyone own one, and possibly post some pics? What price range are they in? I cant seem to find much info Googling it.

There are pictures and descriptions at

and a number of other sites. Google Manurhin MR 73 and you will get a lot of stuff.
I have one, like the Gendarmarie on the sportingguns page except with 4 inch barrel. It was an AIM selloff of Vienna SWAT guns and was pretty well used. For all the claims of superior strength and quality, it doesn't do anything for me that a S&W can't do as well. But it is an interesting shooting novelty.

I'm no one to talk about the Manurhin but most things French are way overrated compared how they're cracked up to be. One of the Manurhin models looks like a S&W clone while the other looks like a shake n bake Ruger.
One of French descent

A tad pricey. (http://www.sportingguns.com.au/UsedGuns/UsedGuns.asp)

I've only seen a used one in a gun shop. Nice looking revolver but way too pricey for me. They do have a good reputation but I'm quite happy with Ruger and S&W revolvers. I guess you could call me a bit biased against all things French though. That includes their wines, their cooking and their big noses in the air, superior attitudes. :scrutiny:

Manurhin revolvers family is composed of two different breed :
- first , the MR73 : a superior revolver, with a short and light double-action trigger pull ( 8 pounds out of the box ! ). Very accurate, too. This gun is the primary handgun for G.I.G.N ( french intervention team ) since 1976. You bet there is a good reason .
-second, the Ruger clones. The MR88 ( or the Police version : RMR et Special Police ) are Ruger GP100 clone, with minor changes. The MR93 is a advanced design, with a Ruger trigger mecanism and some partilcularities. The MR96 is more conservative but mechanicaly identical.
If the second breed is to compared with Ruger revolvers, it is not match to a good S&W for me.
But the MR73 is really superior to any production revolvers, except maybe the Korth. The only real drawback is the grip shape, a problem you can solve changing the grip.
P.S : Bakert, you don't like our wines and cooking ? I'm really in pain for you :P

As far as I know, Ruger USA still provides the rough castings for the MR88,MR93 and MR98.
All the final fitting and finishing is done in France.
We have had MR73 revolvers come through the shop for sale and dao is on the money.
The guns are extremely well finished and fitted.
Right now there are no US importers for French made firearms that I am aware of since all the brewhaha about the Mideast problems.
You may be able to import one through Canada but the tariffs will probably be fairly high.

I've always been curious regarding the M88s. They look like Rugers but don't they have sideplates? Also, being German, they're significantly more expensive than Rugers and I don't know how they hold up (if they do, indeed, have sideplates) with full magnum loads.
Anyone ever seen one of these beasties?

I have seen many of these beasties , Confederate.
They are strong and don't fear full load .357. Basically, they are to compared with Ruger GP100.
The only feeble part is the cylinder lock, which sometime break.
I have worn the Manurhin Special Police ( Police model of the MR88 ) five years without any problem. And I have heard no reliability problem from my french policemen colleagues except this one .
For you information, my duty gun was the second one photo , but in mat blue finish. Strong gun, even if the trigger pull is to improved...
