Seriously considering the purchase of the Target or Rough Country aftermarket rear sights made by Bowen Classic Arms for my 4" GP100. Interested in hearing others' experiences with these two sight models, and thoughts about how they differ from one another in practice. I use my GP mostly for target shooting and as a car/home defense gun. Might carry it as a sidearm during occasional deer hunting in the future.

This Ruger is a great .357, and I shoot it better than almost any other gun, but about half the time when I pick it up and sight in to shoot, the factory rear sight appears slightly crooked, canting just a bit to one side. Subtle, but irritating when I think it's there. Might just be the sight blade, but there's very little "play" in the blade when I push it with a finger -- much less play than on my S&Ws' rear sights, for example.

One reason I'm interested in the Bowens is the hunch that they will be carefully machined and fitted, providing a dead level sight picture. Likely to be true?

Thanks.

I've installed Bowen sights (both types) on several client guns, and they are superb. I am particularly impressed by the Rough Country sights, and note with happiness that they are now available for S&W as well.

A high quality product, exactly what one would expect from Bowen; worth every penny.

I have Bowens "rough country" reat sight on a tricked out Bisley (.45 Colt). Precisely made/finished, hell for stout.

I have a Bowen Rough Country rear sight installed on my 4" GP-100. It is a huge improvement over the factory rear sight IMO. The sight is very sturdy and seems less likely to snag on cloth. It is definitely a quality product.

I have a Bowen Target sight (bought before the Rough Country sight was available) on my .45 Redhawk. It is a great sight, I don't think you will be disappointed with either.
