A Cudeman Skinner (139A) of a unique design, and strangly enough, UK legal??

It's got a Bull Horn handle, *Leather* sheath and hollow ground blade with gut hook.

Like a razor out of the box and fits the hand nicely, haven't checked it's skinning ability yet but the gut hook seems a bit dull to me so I'll probably run a file over it before trying that out.

Any thoughts?

If I'm right, this knife is legal because it's for the preparation of food? Well, I'd rather have a traditional push dagger with a little fork on the bottom, than a guthook-push-dagger like this, if you see what I mean.

This is a kitchen knife designed for handicapped people with minimal dexterity. I could see a version for other uses than the rocking motion this one provides that would have other applications.

nice blade, had something similar once. the principal is that when you do a lot of skinning if your wrist is kept in as normal position as possible, then you the user suffer less fatigue. this is true to a point. I have found that you will never buy a piece of equipment off the shelf, be it a blade or a firearm, that will perform flawlessly as expected, there will always be something not quite right (grip position, blade length, etc), so that is why I make most of my gear now( apart from it feels good to make something useful). I don't give a rats' what it looks like - if it performs, thats whats important. looks to me are secondary(if I could make em pretty them I suppose it would be more important to me).
I would not use a file on your gut hook, but a round ceramic hook - gives a finer edge.
Hope it lives up to expectations.

Sorry got carried away, in oz these types of knives are regarded as push daggers- and illegal. Would not want anyone to get there skinner taken at customs if they come over here. Would be a crappy way to start trip.

I got a set of really fine diamond files that should work ok, they put a great edge on my dive knife when my other stones, 'steel' or ceramic sharpener wouldn't touch it:)

As for not taking a push knife to OZ... I don't think I'd get it out of the UK!!

Well I'm not sure whether it falls foul or not because it still protrudes from between the fingers of a clenched fist?

I fact that I got it in the UK only means HMG haven't had a long enough look at it yet:rolleyes: but seeing as it made it's way through Customs is a good sign.

Well, there was a bloke on the news the other day who got a full auto AR imported from the US :eek: so I'd wager customs didn't even look at it, they just slap on the maximum duty/tax they can and wave it on through.

Now, I'm in no way advocating this (:evil: ), but if you wanted to smuggle something in, do it on a National Express coach.

I doubt it's the same person. The original guns2thugs owner was a young lad operating form his Mum's house in Nottingham. This is a European based website based in France. I'll wager it's the guns2thugs original supplier.

Isn't he still inside anyway?

Customs probably saw the description 'skinner' and waved it through. Although Customs do sometimes operate a 'let it through and see what else they import' policy. Why nick someone for one push dagger if there is a chance that they have used it as a test run and intend bringing over thousands of push daggers or other prohibited items in due course?

BTW the importation of 'push daggers' is a Summary Offence which means that they can only hear the case in a Magistrates Court within six months of the alleged offence. So if you have not had a knock on the door within that time, then you will probably be OK. :)
